Cookie policy

Strictly speaking NextPrep doesn't set cookies at all. It uses your browser's storage to remember things. This page lists every item so nothing is a mystery.

Draft for the current prototype. A lawyer should review this text before public launch.

1.Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files websites place in your browser. Browsers also offer 'local storage' and 'session storage', which work similarly for our purposes. We use only local and session storage, and we treat them under the same rules as cookies.

2.What we store

Every key NextPrep writes, and why:

  • onward:ref (kept 30 days, only if you arrive through a partner link): the partner code, an optional campaign tag and the time. No personal data.
  • onward:v1 (essential, until you erase it): your progress, notes, bookmarks, flashcard schedule, test results, profile and settings.
  • onward:consent (essential, kept): your choices from the cookie sheet.
  • onward:promo, onward:newsletter, onward:newsletter-at, onward:assessed (essential, kept): remember if you have dismissed or used our assessment and newsletter prompts, so we don't repeat them too often.
  • onward:popup-shown (session only): makes sure we show at most one prompt in a visit.

3.Third parties

Today there are no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media trackers on NextPrep. Fonts are served from our own site.

4.Analytics in the future

If we add analytics, they will be off until you allow them in the cookie sheet, and we will update this page first. The Analytics switch currently only records your preference.

5.Managing your choices

You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of any page. You can also clear site data in your browser, which removes everything listed above, including your study progress.
